Most FPS’s such as Battlefield, Call of Duty and even Dust514 have the ability to Shoot, throw Nades and melee your enemy at any given time, but only 8-12% of the player base use all three of these tools effectively in combat. As you read this think right now on your playing style, look at how many Nade’s are never thrown each time you re-spawn or when you’ve entered a micro dual and died by another player because you didn’t think to melee while he was reloading. You will probably realize you are the meaning of a “One trick pony” and all you know is pull the trigger.
Going from a OTP to becoming a Three Ring Circus may only
take a matter of 3 days worth of training yourself in your game of choice by focusing on one Ring at a time.
The first
ring will visit is using grenades more efficient. In Dust 514 while you are
cooking a Nade you start to hear a beeping while it’s in hand to help you time,
but during combat situation gunfire can often drowned out the beeping making it a usless tool. It’s
wise to just self time cooking Nades and not rely on sound gimmicks in order to
help you perform. In Dust514 I have found with the base class of Nades a self
timer to the count of 3 will give you a good mid to short range detonation. If
target is in CQC then a close 4 count will do the trick. Hold any longer than
that and your smashing your re-spawn button to come back.
Advise: The next time you log on enter a series of
Pub/training matches and tell yourself “Grenades will be my primary weapon”. Every
time you’re about to or think you’re about to engage in combat, use your Nades
first with you gun as secondary. Keep up this self training up until you feel
like you can gain a kill 60% of the time you throw a nade.
The second ring here is the Melee. Melee or knifing is often
a powerful tool and can come in handy in a tight spot. Most often though Melees
are not used due to the small fact that a player will try it once or twice and
fail, then never try it again. In all of the Call of Duty online games I have
always been a knife first, gun secondary guy, but in a game like DUST 514 or
Battlefield this was not the case because the mechanic and the size of the map
were different. So in these games adapting to the Melee was a bit of a more challenging
task for me. But after a few days of applying myself and making an effort to
use it I kept training until Melee became a reflex to enemy distance and
situation over trying to remember what I need to push followed by fail.
Advise: Work at it and skill in to it, this will pay off. I
have up my kill counts by at least 4-5 and it has helped me to stay competitive.
The third Ring is of course Gun game, but this will be a
ring we will visit in a later blog. Please leave comments below and check in if
you have followed through with the advice
